I've been collecting wire and researching into other artists who use it. I would like to transform my wishes into leaves, and place them along the wire, which will resemble a vine growing on the pipework of Hotspur House.
Alexander Calder uses wire like a pencil, and 'draws' and creates 3D shapes, line and figures. I've selected this piece as it is based around organic structure. I also like how this piece captures movement.
Julie Frith is heavily inspired by Calder's mobiles. It looks as though she has used plastic for the leaves, and I like the marks she has carved into them. it portrays the mark making in leaves without being too obvious. A modern spin on Calder's mobiles.
Frazier & Wing create quirky mobiles inspired by organic forms. They also collect vintage items from all over the world, however for this project I am focusing on their mobiles designed for interiors.
Frazier & Wing use a carefully selected colour palettes for individual mobiles to suit various settings. They use simple repeat of shapes, that in multiples looks very effective.
These are interesting, I like the first one, looks sculptural.
ReplyDeleteI love Calder’s' work. Have you seen the wire circus figures he made? There is a funny old film on you tube showing a circus performance. It amazes me how many different ways you can use wire and coloured shapes.
