Sunderland Art Prize Exhibition

Recently visiting Newcastle, I went to the Sunderland Art Prize Exhibition where my close friend Kimberley Emeny was doing a performance as well as showing a recorded video on a television of a performance she did whilst at Ashburn House. Knowing Kim over a year now I have learnt a lot, she is an inspiration to me.

The work she does I cannot explain or understand but it leaves me wanting more. She is on degree level at Sunderland University and is a performance artist. Performing live is an art I have not tried out myself, although who is to say what is and what isn't a live performance? I am inpsired by her work because it makes me look at my art work differently. I try recording a number of drawings by video or photographing samples to build up small videos as if they are telling a story; story telling an example of live perfroming. So try it out for yourself, think about outside the box as an artist, after all looking at sewing machines day after day can become tiredsome.
